Art with Ms. Gilbert

The DPS art room is all about helping students in 4PK through 2nd grade work to be safe, kind, respectful and responsible artists. Trying our best and learning new things are always the top priorities, as we experiment with new materials and techniques throughout the school year. Before students leave for EBH, they will have spent time working with markers, watercolors, crayons, tempera paint, beads, colored pencils, model magic, string, glue and more. And while the creation process is always fun, lots of learning happens without students even realizing it!

Education in the visual arts helps DPS students to:

  • Work together
  • Interpret visual information
  • Be original
  • Concentrate and focus
  • Keep an open mind
  • Persevere
  • Develop motor skills
  • Communicate different emotions
  • Realize that mistakes happen
  • Be attentive to details
  • And much, much more!

Keep an eye on this page to see the great work our DPS Artists are doing this year!
